ARTWORK

Enamel fired on metal makes for a dynamic contemporary surface for expressive design.  A wide range of options are available and bespoke commissions are welcome.
View artwork collections individually for more information.
Enamel is suitable for many settings. It is ideal in domestic and commercial environments, or in placed in the realms of public art. Work can be made to a variety of sizes and can be commissioned to fit a bespoke situation. It provides not only a highly visual response to a given brief but is also:

Hygienic - can be cleaned with bacterial sprays.
Durable - hard wearing and weather resistant.
Light-fast - enamel colours are permanent and will not fade.
Fire proof - enamel panels can withstand temperatures up to 800C
Graffiti proof - enamel surfaces can be treated with solvents that will not affect the graphics.
Tactile – enamel artworks will withstand being touched and handled in public spaces.

Small/Medium pieces are fired in my own workshop and are available as individual pieces, which can be installed in single or multiple sets to cover any area required.  Supported on wood panels, medium sized artworks are composed of fired enamels on metal that are pieced together to form larger pieces. Large scale enamels forming one entire sheet are produced on a commission basis, due to the need to hire industrial kiln facilities.

Artworks are normally wall based, however it is also possible to create curved surfaces and three-dimensional forms. Enamels can even be incorporated into items of furniture and in smaller work surfaces can be layered.
The enamel is fired onto copper or steel. Steel is suited for large-scale pieces due to it's strength. Copper is generally used on smaller/medium sized pieces and has additional characteristics within it's colour and surface range.
