Historical Views of Liverpool
Here are two paintings from different centuries that show Liverpool as a mapped cityscape.
Ben Johnson - "The City of Liverool " - The Walker Art Gallery
This painting is in the Maritime Museum - I need to go back and note the artist, title and time preriod, but it is a wonderful comparison with the contemporary painting by Ben Johnson and its facinating to see the changes in cityscape. Note here that the Cunard Building hasn't even been built ! The plot is just a vacant space, and the overhead railway which is now long gone, can be viewed directley behind the Liver and the Port of Liverpool Buildings.
